The Vehicle Standards Harmonisation Sub-group aims to promote the harmonisation of road vehicle regulations for safety and emissions with international requirements together with mutual recognition arrangements to facilitate trade of automotive product in APEC. The sub-group is chaired by Mr Sang-Do Kim of Korea (Dr. Jang-Hyok Ko email: janghyokko@moct.go.kr) and Mr Peter Robertson of Australia (Deputy Chair) , email: peter.robertson@dotars.gov.au

• Where applicable, economies to develop action plans, including timelines, to incorporate UNECE Regulations and Global Technical Regulations (GTRs) for motor vehicles into domestic legislation.
• VSHG to assist in capacity building to support efforts of economies in harmonizing regulations and developing certification and regulatory systems.
• VSHG to provide a forum for knowledge transfer to improve transparency of vehicle regulations and associated processes under the 1958 and 1998 agreements.
• In parallel, VSHG’s efforts shall complement the development of GTRs and the human resource development efforts of JASIC in providing detailed technical training on UNECE Regulations.
