PHASE IV PROGRESS REPORT

PROGRESS REPORT TPT 02/98

Phase IV of the Road Transport Harmonisation Project (RTHP) is concerned with the analysis of road vehicle Certification / approval and recall systems used in APEC economies.

This paper is to update members on progress of the (RTHP) Phase IV since the TPT-WG13 meeting at Mexico in April:

  • The RTHP Steering Committee accepted the 2nd progress report of 21 August for TPT 02/98 on the analysis of APEC wide Certification Systems including Recall Systems provided. The project consultant, Japan Automobile Standards Internationalisation Center (JASIC), provided the progress report in accordance with the terms of the contract.
  • The progress of the consultancy is considered by the RTHP Steering Committee to be showing favourable progress.
  • An extensive questionnaire was prepared by the consultant for Phase IV. By August 14 responses had been received for the report with another two promised. The initial analysis conducted by the consultant has identified a wide range of application documents required within APEC economies comprising;
