PROGRESS REPORT TPT 02/99

Phase V of the Road Transport Harmonisation Project (RTHP) will provide guidelines for member economies to join the "1958 Agreement" and /or the "Global Agreement" and provide advice to two volunteer economies to develop action plans to achieve harmonised regulatory arrangements to enable free trade in the region.

This paper is to update members on progress of the RTHP Phase V. Since the TPT-WG13 meeting at Mexico in April:

• The application for funding for Phase V RTHP was approved by APEC BAC and preparations are under way to commence the project early in 1999.

Final discussion on the attached RFP will take place at the RTHP group meeting to be held on 19 October. A recommendation will be submitted to Steering Committee for consideration at its meeting 21 October.
