In 1996, Port Experts Group was established in APEC Transportation Working Group. The major objectives of the Port Experts Group are to improve efficiency of ports and related activities through the exchange of information and expertise among port experts and programs, and to improve port capacities in the APEC region. These goals are obtained through the identification of common issues and formulation of action plans. The Group is chaired by Mr. Masaru Suzuki of Japan, with Mr. Takeshi Suzuki as acting secretary.
