Progress Report of Port Experts Group Port Experts Group Chair: Mr. Susumu Murata (Japan) Themes and Theme Coordinators are as follows; Theme 1; Port Data Base (Chile), Theme 2; Regional Port Development Strategy (People s Republic of China), Theme 3; Port Administration, Management and Operation (Thailand), Theme 4; Environmental Consideration (United States of America), Theme 5; Technical Standards and Technology Development (Chinese Taipei) and Theme 6; Natural Disasters and Damage Prevention Measures (Japan).
This project is to update the software of APEC Port Database (APDB) and to relocate it from Chile to Japan, in order to improve the efficiency of it. The project was finally approved at the July 1999 BMC meeting. Relocation is underway. It is scheduled to finish in November 1999. As Chile informed to the people concerned, the address of APDB is temporarily relocated from 1 October 1999 as below; (old) http://www.apec.cl -> (now) http://www.apecport.org 2. Prompting input of APDB (Theme 1) The Chair has submitted the e-mail which asks the participation in APDB to Peru and Viet Nam according to the recommendation of Chile. 3. TPT WG 18 will be held on Japan in autumn 2000, though the place and the detailed schedule is not decided yet. Japan, as the Theme Coordinator of Theme 6, proposes to hold the above APEC Seminar at Kobe, Japan in/around TPT WG 18, autumn 2000.
Australia has submitted the Work Program Review on the PEG activities to the Chair. The Chair circulated the review to the PEG members and asked to submit their comments and their own review. Member economies sent their comments.
Mr. Lee, the Senior Maritime Expert of ESCAP, the former Korean delegate to PEG, requested the participation in PEG meeting. But we could not get necessary consensus among HOD level.
