APEC SEMINAR ON DISASTER PROTECTION MEASURES FOR EARTHQUAKES IN PORTS; 2ND ANNOUNCEMENT AT TPT-WG 17 (TPTWG17/PEG/3/1/REV.1)

PURPOSE

The members of APEC Port Experts Group and port-related people in Japan promote anti-seismic preparedness of ports through exchange of experience and knowledge on earthquake damage and anti-seismic countermeasures at ports.

BACKGROUND

TPT-WG 18 will be held in Miyazaki, Japan from 16^th to 20^th October 2000. Japan, as the Theme Coordinator of Theme 6, Natural Disasters and Damage Prevention Measures, proposes to hold the above APEC Seminar just before TPT-WG 18 at Kobe, where port facilities were devastated by the great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995 and they have been already recovered completely.

1. The document must be under 10 pages with A4 paper.
2. OHP and LCD projector will be available in the seminar room.

Organizers suggest that LCD projector users bring their own PCs.

7. If there is a large number of presenters, organizers might change the program and part 1 might start in the morning of Oct. 12.
