The APEC Transportation Working Group recognizes that Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) can contribute much to the Region's most significant transportation needs relating to saving lives, time, money, energy and the environment through more effective use of the existing transportation systems and related infrastructure. At Transportation Ministersˇ request, the ITS Experts Group is working towards ITS standards development arrangements that will allow these benefits to be fully realised.  The United States has assumed the Chair of the ITS Experts Group.  The Chair is Walter Kulyk, Director of the Office of Mobility Innovation, Federal Transit Administration, U.S. Department of Transportation.  He is supported by Andrew Schoka, Mitretek Systems.
