Attached please find a Draft Report (Download - Word) to APEC Transportation Ministers on a Framework of Standards for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). The Draft Report has been requested by Ministers by the end of 1998.

It is recommended that Member Economies consider the Draft Report in order that at our ITS meeting on 19 October, 1998, at the 14^th APEC TPT-WG meeting in Seoul, Member Economies are able to discuss the draft, with the objective of reaching agreement to it.

The Draft Report includes comments already received from some Member Economies. To facilitate our meeting on 19 October, I would appreciate any other comments that Member Economies wish to make, in advance of our meeting, so that we can circulate them to other participants. In this way, we can all be prepared to consider the Draft with the objective of reaching agreement. I would appreciate comments by Friday 2 October.

Thank you for the thoughtful comments received so far. I will shortly be distributing a draft agenda for our meeting in Seoul.
