Proposals toward enhancing
regional Y2K cooperation The Y2K problem may create a situation where each economy will face inexperienced and abnormal conditions simultaneously, and to tackle this problem, theAPEC Y2K 100 Days Cooperation Initiativewas agreed at Leaders meeting in Auckland last September. In this context, Japan is going to make a following proposals at the next meeting of the TPT-WG in Hong Kong for the purpose of giving effect to this commitment in the field of transportation.
In order to share expertise and experiences about contingency planning, it will be proposed that a network of experts among transportation authorities be created through producing a list of experts in member economies(see annex A), capitalizing on the existing network of APEC member economies in the field of transportation. This network may also be useful to exchange information on Y2K failures at the time of roll-over.
